You have probably come to this page looking for the best travel insurance for a getaway or great trip that you have in mind and that is why I am going to tell you my experience and the reasons why I think MONDO insurance is the best travel insurance on the market.
In this article I will try to talk with some details of its coverage, its advantages and the reasons why we have ended up opting for MONDO as the best travel insurance and it is the one we always carry as companions.
In addition, I will also talk about some interesting discounts, such as the 5% discount you have for being readers of the blog or other discounts that can be accumulated and that are, really, on the total price of the policy, without tricks.
Why travel insured?
Although it sounds repetitive because it is something I always insist on, traveling insured should always be an obligation because for a very small amount compared to the total cost of the trip, you can travel completely calm before any unforeseen event.
And no, it is not throwing money away, the best thing that can happen to us on any trip, is to pay for travel insurance and not need it, I assure you.
Of course, if it is needed on occasion, it is best to be well covered in case the flies and know the details of the policy. I, for example, usually travel with the basic policy, which covers medical expenses at the destination, which can sometimes be very expensive and is usually, at least for me, one of the biggest concerns. The typical example is the United States and its very expensive private health care.
Por eso, para empezar, lo más importante es ser conscientes de que viajar con un buen seguro de viaje es imprescindible para ir tranquilos.
Ventajas del seguro de viaje con MONDO
Ahora es cuando os voy a intentar motivar por qué pienso que Mondo es el mejor seguro de viaje en la actualidad y voy a intentar daros los detalles que me hacen pensarlo.
Las coberturas genéricas de los seguros Mondo
Lo primero de todo es valorar las coberturas más típicas, que son muy amplias y de sobras para cualquier imprevisto en cualquier país del mundo.
Su precio es más que asumible en el cómputo total del viaje. De hecho, puede que sea uno de los gastos menos significativos. Por ejemplo, un seguro de un viaje de 15 días a cualquier parte del mundo cuesta entre 45 euros (el básico) y 110 euros (el más completo). Ya os he comentado que yo suelo viajar con el seguro básico y me cubre de sobras.
De hecho, en la opción básica (Viaje Esencial) se incluyen 100.000 euros en gastos médicos, 600 euros por pérdida de equipaje, 300 euros en equipamientos electrónicos, repatriación, etc. En las opciones intermedias (Viaje Tranquilidad y Viaje Top) o en el Premium las coberturas suben hasta varios millones de euros y también incluyen extras como deportes de aventura, etc.
También ha habido un aumento de los límites en la cobertura de convalecencia en hotel (que sirve para cubrir la cuarentena médica) alcanzando los 2.250€ en el Viaje Premium, de modo que se cubre el máximo nivel de requisitos de entrada que están pidiendo algunos países, como es el caso de Costa Rica, el país que más pedía llegando a los 2.000 dólares.
Por último, cabe destacar que han ampliado la cobertura del seguro de viaje anual, incorporando una opción Premium que amplía la cobertura de gastos médicos hasta 6.000.000€.
Además de las coberturas mencionadas, Mondo ha añadido algunas nuevas en su última actualización (Marzo 2023):
- Nueva cobertura de pérdida de servicios contratados causada por la demora del medio de transporte (Viaje Top 150€ y Viaje Premium 300€)
- Nueva cobertura para la franquicia del coche de alquiler (50% de la franquicia con un límite de 1,000€)
- Viajes por España: mejoramos los límites de gastos médicos y otras coberturas generales así como los precios en prácticamente todas las duraciones de viaje
Elegir el seguro de viaje más adecuado es una cuestión totalmente personal en función del viaje que se vaya a realizar, pero ya veis que por unos 50 euros en total, podéis ir cubiertos ante cualquier inconveniente.

MONDO has managed to adapt perfectly to what travelers are looking for and that has made it, possibly, the most competitive travel insurance company in the market today. And the competition is tough, that there are other insurers that also have good prices and coverage, of course.
